Pries, Eric (DE)

2010. crox 326. UEBER REVOLUTION ALS FRAGE DES GÜTEN GESCHMACKS. Video.

Doubrawa, vertelt Eric, zou in

Is he a dead rabbit?

Very funny work.

Is he a dead rabbit?

Dead as a man or dead as an artist, what's the question. And if as a man, what about the artist?
I insist. Is he an artist or a dead rabbit?

Very funny work.

a lecture on Dürer, Beuys and Borremans

Rabbit, Eric points, (or hare) links to Oppenheim and Beuys.
And Borremans, I add.
Yeah, dead rabbits, zucht Eric.
Aan Beuys of aan Dürer.
Maakt geen zak uit. A hare is a hare and a dead hare is a dead hare. BUT

1. give me bacon
2. I give you a cow
3. you gave me a cow
a cow
beautiful
insane a cow
I give you my girlfriend
5. it depends on the girlfriend
Eric says

(...) on framing

One is the commercial frame > the artist framed as a cow > art reviews on cattle and its many varieties.

Two
is a theoretical frame > the artist framed as a food supplement >
art reviews on cooking art and baking art and its many
food-supplementary varieties.

The avantgarde experiment: don't frame the artist: frame art, frame theory: frame all of this and all of that within the artist: make the artist the frame of the whole thing.

Tuymans, Eric wonders, is he an artist or a dead rabbit?

He is a banana-eater. Seductive. Ape the Artist loves banana. Harmless seduction.

Eric
introduces his performance- and video art. The performances most often
are without any public at all. The final product of each performance is a
movie. (...)

volgorde dus eigenlijk 1-3-2 is.

It's always with a partner or framed as a dialogue. Part
2 is a sound dialogue, 'what sound' explains Eric 'is in revolutionary
thinking': one hour and a half: performed it in Hannover twice: über ton
gedank ohne ansage.
'Revolution,' Eric states, 'is not always a dialogue - or - rather.' But after a short hesitation: 'No, in fact, actually it is a dialogue, a dialogue between the existing thing and the revolutionist.'

This
brings us to part 3: über revolution als frage des guten geschmacks.
Heerlijk filmpje. 9
minuten platte kolder. The other actor, Martin Dege, recently had an
installation at EI-huis.

About revolution 1 is a talk with a
friend on the absence of revolution today, part 5, a recent performance
done in Hannover, über reinheit und revolution, cleaning up the garden,
hij en een maat, terwijl twee personen discussiëren, a discussion on
purity and revolution.

crox-box 4 december 2009 on Sophie Calle

Sophie Calle and her private eye project.
poetry bezig. Letterlijk, hij goot gedichten in beton.
